Heritage Committee

Role

Advise Transport for NSW (TfNSW) management on heritage issues that emanate from Transport for NSW activities.

To be the core body in Transport for NSW where heritage issues and issues involving heritage items are referred for discussion and further action.

Provide advice on managing the integration of heritage into the mainstream of Transport for NSW procedures.

Assist in establishing the strategic direction for Transport for NSW management of heritage issues.

Authority

Transport for NSW Heritage Committee was established to advise Transport for NSW on the positive and proactive management of heritage issues that come from their activities.

Membership

The Chairperson is the General Manager, Infrastructure Maintenance Roads and Maritime Services. Membership of the Committee is by Transport for NSW invitation, following discussion with the Heritage Division, Office of Environment and Heritage and the National Trust of Australia (NSW), and includes a range of professional officers and community members with expertise in heritage matters. The Committee currently comprises representatives from:

  • Engineers Australia
  • Heritage Division, Office of Environment and Heritage
  • National Trust of Australia (NSW)
  • Royal Australian Historical Society
  • University of Sydney
  • Community.

Meetings

Meetings are held quarterly.

Submissions

Submissions to the Committee are generally confidential, but may be made public under certain circumstances.
