Bus Priority Program

Reviewed

Project overview

The Bus Priority Program is part of the NSW Government’s long term plan to future proof the state’s bus network.

Key benefits

  • 11 of Sydney’s key bus links will become ‘rapid routes’ and run every 10 minutes from 6am to 7pm on weekdays
  • 2 new ‘rapid routes’ are planned for growth areas in the North West and South West
  • 20 suburban routes will run every 15 minutes (10 minutes during peak times) between 6am and 7pm on weekdays

The program uses various methods to improve services, such as installing more bus lanes, making buses the priority at traffic lights, changing parking restrictions on clearways, and relocating bus stops.

Roads and Maritime is consulting with the community and updating customers about the Bus Priority Program as projects are underway.
