Central Coast Highway
Project overview
The Central Coast Highway begins at Kariong and travels along a number of Central Coast roads (including The Entrance Road) until it meets the Pacific Highway at Doyalson. This route provides an important connection between the M1 Pacific Motorway and Gosford, from Gosford to Erina and The Entrance through to Doyalson.
Current projects
Central Coast Highway and Tumbi Road intersection upgrade
The NSW Government is planning to improve traffic flow and safety by upgrading the Central Coast Highway for 3.8 kilometres between Wamberal and Bateau Bay. As part of the project, the upgrade of the most congested intersection at Central Coast Highway and Tumbi Road has been prioritised and fast tracked. Wamberal to Bateau Bay
Transport for NSW is planning to upgrade the Central Coast Highway for 3.8 kilometres between Wamberal and Bateau Bay. The proposal will see the highway upgraded to two lanes in both directions between the Tumbi Road intersection and Bateau Bay Road intersection to improve travel time and safety for 26,500 motorists who use this section of highway daily. Completed projects
Brisbane Water Drive & Manns Road intersection, West Gosford
This intersection upgrade was completed in November 2015 and involved widening and realigning Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road to form a single intersection with traffic lights.
Carlton Road to Ocean View Drive
This 4.4 kilometre section of the highway was upgraded to improve traffic congestion and safety. The upgrade was delivered in two stages:
- Stage 1 between Carlton Road and Matcham Road was completed in November 2012.
- Stage 2 between Matcham Road and Ocean View Drive was completed in December 2013.
The adjoining sections of the Central Coast Highway to the south (Terrigal Drive to Carlton Road) and to the north (Ocean View Drive to Tumbi Road) have also been widened to four lanes.
Central Coast Highway and Racecourse Road
This upgrade to improve safety and traffic flow was completed in November 2017 and involved providing a left turn lane with traffic light control for vehicles turning on to Racecourse Road and for vehicles turning from Racecourse Road onto the Central Coast Highway.
