Transport for NSW is upgrading the Daroobalgie heavy vehicle inspection bays, which includes installation of new weather proof inspection sheds and site offices.

Work hours will be between 7am and 6pm and 9pm and 5am, Monday to Friday and 7am and 6pm and 9pm and 5am on Saturday and Sunday.

This project will provide a safer working environment for compliance inspectors to monitor heavy vehicle movement on the Newell Highway, and to help address ongoing road safety issues.

During the work, heavy vehicle inspections will still be carried out along the Newell Highway in various locations.

Project information

The heavy vehicle inspection bays at Daroobalgie are being upgraded as part of the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to road safety and managing heavy vehicle compliance.

Work includes a new amenities block including a shower, toilets and small storage room with disabled access ramp.

A new inspection shed will also be built in the upgrade and boom gates installed.

Once work has been completed on both sites, the existing safety barriers will be removed and upgraded and the road approaches up to and through each facility will be resurfaced.

This work will support around 15 jobs during construction and ultimately improve efficiency and safety by enabling more heavy vehicles to be checked at different times of the day.
