Project overview
The NSW Government is investing maintenance work on Old Karuah Bridge, over Karuah River at Karuah, to preserve the structural integrity and reduce future maintenance costs.

June 2024 – Start of work
Transport for NSW is carrying out maintenance work, which includes site establishment and concrete repair and protection.
Work will be carried out from Monday 3 June between 6am to 5pm, from Monday to Friday and is expected to be completed in up to 12 months, weather permitting.
No work will be carried out on public holidays for the duration of the project.
For the safety of the workers, a large component of this work is being completed during low tide.
Traffic impacts
Majority of this maintenance work will be carried out from under the bridge. Some channel closures will be in place.
On occasion, single lane closures with a 40km/h speed limit will be in place on the bridge.
Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs.
Background
Old Karuah Bridge is a six-span Pratt Truss style bridge. It was built in 1957 to replace an earlier punt ferry crossing, which formed part of the original route of the Pacific Highway.
Old Karuah Bridge serves as an important link for the community and freight network.
