Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry Road and Cattai Road natural disaster recovery

Road maintenance work is now complete on Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience while we completed this essential program of work.

The work involved repairing damage to sections of all four state maintained roads following record breaking rainfall across the state during 2022. Critical short term road patching work was completed over 2022 and 2023 while the longer term solution was being designed. The program of work commenced on 5 December 2024.

We acknowledge that the road detours were inconvenient at times and thank the local community for their patience and understanding while the required road detours were in place to complete works.

Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street program of works

Since we commenced the Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street program of works on Thursday 5 December 2024 the following road resurfacing projects have been completed:

• Wisemans Ferry Road between 283 Wisemans Ferry Road and Wheeny Creek Road, Cattai - completed on 16 June 2025
• Cattai Road and Eldon Street between Canning Place and Chatham Street, Pitt Town – completed on 24 March 2025
• Bathurst Street between Glebe Road and Chatham Street, Pitt Town – completed on 24 March 2025
• Wisemans Ferry Road between Cattai Creek and 177 Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai completed on 4 March 2025
• Wisemans Ferry Road between Charcoal Road and Paulls Road, South Maroota - completed on 21 February 2025
• Wisemans Ferry Road between Cliftonville Road and 1407 Wisemans Ferry Road, Maroota completed on 11 December 2024.

Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry Road and Cattai Road program of works

Transport for NSW is working to repair natural disaster damage on state roads across NSW caused by record breaking rainfall across the state during 2022. As part of the NSW Government natural disaster recovery response, Transport for NSW identified Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry Road and Cattai Road as three state-maintained roads requiring natural disaster repairs.

In response to initial findings, and to address critical issues in the short term, essential road patching maintenance was carried out over 2022 on all three state-maintained roads.

At the same time, Transport for NSW also focused on designing a long-term solution. The long-term road repairs on Old Northern Road, Wisemans Ferry Road and Cattai Road commenced in January 2024 and were completed in July 2024.

Additional long-term repairs on Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street commenced on Thursday 5 December 2024 and were completed in June 2025.
