Old South Head Road safety improvements, Rose Bay

We are planning safety improvements to Old South Head Road near Strickland and Hamilton streets in Rose Bay to make it safer for people walking, riding and driving.

Transport for NSW is improving safety on Old South Head Road near Strickland and Hamilton streets in Rose Bay.

We’re in the early design stages and are investigating plans to replace the existing zebra crossing with a raised ‘wombat’ crossing to slow vehicles and improve safety for people walking, riding and driving.

In November 2025, we’ll be conducting site investigations to inform the design. These investigations will help us understand the feasibility of safety improvements to the pedestrian crossing on Old South Head Road near Strickland and Hamilton streets.

This work will be completed at night and includes:

• locating underground utilities
• geotechnical investigations
• topographical surveys.

We aim to implement these improvements by mid-2026.

We’ll continue to keep the community informed as the project progresses.
