Project information

Background

The tidal flow system was installed in 1997 to create a right turn lane from Princes Highway into Canal Road during morning peak traffic. The system was upgraded in 2009 and  a further upgrade is necessary to maintain safe operation.

Major work is expected to start in late 2025

Key Features

To make the tidal flow system up to date and bring it into line with the rest of the road network, Transport plans to:

  • Install pavement lights at major intersections
  • Upgrade cameras and changeable message signs
  • Upgrade conduits, cables, pipes and pits
  • Make adjustments to footpaths and upgrades to barrier boards/ boom gates

Benefits

This essential work will upgrade the tidal flow system at Princes Highway and Canal Road and maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of that part of the road network and related roads.
