Project overview

The NSW Government is improving accessibility at Queanbeyan Station as part of the Safe Accessible Transport program.

The project will provide a station precinct that is accessible to people with a disability, limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers with luggage.

Key benefits

  • New accessible ramp, stairs, and footpath 
  • New pedestrian crossing through the station car park 
  • Upgrading landscaping, relocating existing palm tree in the station car park and widening the footpath 
  • Resurfacing the car park, plus regrading the pavement and station platform 
  • New accessible parking space, accessible bus/coach drop-off, and kiss and ride zone 
  • New bicycle parking in the station forecourt 
  • Replacing the existing unisex toilet with a Family Accessible Toilet 
  • New accessible seating and allocated waiting spaces for wheelchair users in the station forecourt and on the platform 
  • New boarding assistance zone 
  • Upgrading lighting, wayfinding and closed-circuit television (CCTV) around the station precinct.

This project is now underway. Community feedback assisted in shaping the detailed designs for the Queanbeyan Station Upgrade.
