Reservoir Road, Blacktown

Reviewed

Project overview

Transport for NSW (Transport) is proposing to make an upgrade to Reservoir Road for improved pedestrian safety and traffic flow. The proposal will make changes to an existing pedestrian crossing between Matthew Crescent and Theresa Street and parking on the northbound lane between Matthew Crescent to Cooper Street.

Project information

Background

An investigation was carried out from the crash history on Reservoir Road and safety concerns that vehicles were not giving way at the pedestrian crossing between Matthew Crescent and Theresa Street. The investigation found that there is an opportunity to improve pedestrian safety and reduce congestion along Reservoir Road, Blacktown.

Transport is proposing to make improvements to an existing pedestrian crossing on Reservoir Road between Matthew Crescent and Theresa Street.

The proposal includes introducing 95 metres of full time ‘No Stopping’ on the northbound lane on Reservoir Road between Matthew Crescent and Cooper Street.

The proposed ‘No Stopping’ results in the loss of around 15 parking spaces.

Benefits

  • upgrades to the pedestrian crossing improves pedestrian safety when crossing the road, especially for vulnerable road users
  • ‘No Stopping’ zone improves safety for road users and residents by reducing vehicle weaving movements due to parked vehicles on the road

  • a full time ‘No Stopping’ zone results in easier access and better sight lines for residents entering and exiting their driveways
  • ‘No Stopping’ improves traffic flow and reduces congestion by using all lanes available resulting in quicker travel times

Key features

The key features of the new proposed improvements include:

  • improvements to the existing pedestrian crossing between Matthew Crescent and Theresa Street
  • installing a full-time ‘No Stopping’ zone restriction along the northbound lane between Matthew Crescent and Cooper Street on Reservoir Road.

      Next steps

Transport is inviting feedback on the proposal. A “Have Your Say” will run from Thursday 1 February until Wednesday 28 February.
