Sydney Gateway
Project overview
Sydney Gateway is a new connection from Sydney’s motorway network to Sydney Airport. No additional tolls apply to use the new connection. Open on September 1, 2024, Sydney Gateway offers improved connections to the Airport Precinct and to Sydney Airport.
Motorists are advised that a variable speed limit applies on Sydney Gateway. Please drive to the road conditions and follow the speed limit.
Below are the routes that have now changed as a result of the opening of Sydney Gateway. Learn your new journey and view virtual drive-through videos below.
From Southwest Sydney and South Coast via the M5 and M8
For domestic travellers, a new and faster route is now available via the M5 and M8 to and from the Domestic Terminals.
Follow signs with the blue plane icon to travel towards the airport.
For international travellers, we recommend that you continue to use the M5 and M5 East Tunnel for the most direct access to the International Terminal. Alternatively, you can also access the International Terminal via the M8.

Before you leave home, check the Sydney Airport website for the latest updates on flight status, parking availability, and potential delays in the airport precinct. Check Live Traffic NSW for the latest updates on road incidents and traffic delays.
