Tallawong to St Marys Corridor
Project overview
The Tallawong to St Marys (T2SM) passenger rail corridor will be a major transport link between Sydney’s North West and South West Growth Areas. The corridor will connect with the Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA) Precinct and surrounding future employment areas.

More about the T2SM Corridor
The corridor was identified in the Long Term Transport Master Plan 2012 as one of Sydney’s 19 major transport corridors requiring preservation. This is to ensure the cost efficient and long term development of the transport network.
The route is approximately 15km from the current Tallawong Stabling Facility site to St Marys Station. Along the planned route is Schofields Station and the Marsden Park growth area.
The T2SM Corridor Preservation study will define and protect a corridor for two potential rail services:
- A future extension of Sydney Metro North West, terminating at Schofields Station
- A new corridor for a metro style service between Schofields Station and St Marys Station.
Key benefits
- A passenger rail connection between Sydney Metro North West and Sydney Metro Western Sydney International Airport, with the opportunity to interchange at Schofields
- A future rail corridor that will connect the WSIA precincts to the North West and provide onward rail connections to the rest of Sydney
- Providing certainty for communities and land use planners to plan around future infrastructure
- Supporting growing communities, businesses and the creation of new jobs in Western Sydney.
What’s happening now
A preferred corridor from Tallawong through Marsden Park has been protected for future transport infrastructure.
The interactive map above shows the protected section of the corridor.
Next steps
We will share updates as they become available.
Acquisitions
There is no need for Transport to acquire land until close to the time the transport infrastructure is required. In the meantime, landowners can continue to live on and use their land.
For more information on property acquisition, see Property Acquisitions on the Corridors home page.
