Project information
Background
The Inland Rail project will see an increase in the frequency, speed and length of trains along new and existing railway to connect Melbourne to Brisbane. As a result, prolonged delays and the potential for crashes will increase where the road and rail meet, impacting on the efficiency and safety of the road network.
Transport for NSW prioritised the existing and proposed crossings and has progressed existing level crossings on the Olympic Highway at Harris Gates and the Newell Highway at Tichborne for development and construction.
Benefits
- Enhanced efficient and network reliability
- Improved safety for all road and rail users
- Improved accessibility and connectivity of the road network.
