January 2025

Transport for NSW is pleased to advise that repair works at the boat ramp have been completed. Both the Eastern and Western ramps are now fully open and operational.

The repairs have addressed the structural issues previously identified on ramp and included improvements to the pontoon facilities.

We thank the community for their patience during these essential repairs.

Temporary closure of ramp - 18 December 2024

On Wednesday 18 December 2024, both sides of the boat ramp will be closed from 3pm until 5pm. This is to facilitate final work on the ramp. During this time, you will need to use the Northern Boat Ramp. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Start of work - 9 December 2024

A contractor has evaluated the feasibility of completing the work on the Eastern boat lane before Christmas 2024. Once the Minor Works Review of Environmental Factors has been determined (expected around 6 December) the contract will be executed, and work is expected to begin in the week beginning 9 December. We expect the work will take 2 weeks, weather permitting.

Project information

A partial collapse of the eastern ramp was identified during a Council inspection. This collapse was located towards the end of the ramp and impacted approximately ¾ of the ramp width with a drop-off of up to 0.5m. Due to the severity and location of this hazard, the eastern boat ramp was closed to prevent further damage to public property and protect the safety of ramp users. This side of the ramp remains closed.

The western ramp was also inspected and presented with a 0.4m wide by 2m long section that had dropped a maximum of 0.1m. The damaged section is located on the outer edge of the ramp. Due to the location and nature of this defect, it was assessed as appropriate to keep this ramp open with existing ramp hazard signage in place.

In addition to the ramp works, TfNSW will carry out repair works on the pontoon replacing damaged rubber buffers, mooring cleats and timbering decking bords.

At this stage, work will be focused on repairing and re-opening the Eastern ramp lane. Once that lane is re-opened, and if time permits, we will also repair the any damages to the Western lane of the ramp.
