Project information

Background

The NSW Government provided funding for these upgrades as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney's busiest corridors.

The upgrades were completed in November 2019. Before this, the intersection was known for the long queues of motorists on Marsden Road turning onto Elizabeth Drive. Road users would try to skip these lines using dangerous manoeuvres which caused crashes and disrupted traffic flow.

Transport for NSW has now completed this work to help address this. Since opening to traffic, the upgrades have been easing congestion and delivering more safer and reliable trips to and from the Liverpool CBD for all road users.

Benefits

The key benefits to the community include:

  • Improving traffic flow through the intersection by separating left and right turn vehicles from Marsden Road onto Elizabeth Drive
  • Easing congestion through the intersection by reducing the number of crashes.
