Dec 2020 - Intersection upgrade completed

We are happy to announce that the new and improved intersection at King Georges Road, Broadarrow Road and Ponyara Road, Beverly Hills is now completed and opened to traffic.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience while this important work was carried out and the ongoing works to upgrade King Georges Road.

Improvements include

  • Widening Broadarrow Road to provide an additional lane to separate the left-turn, right-turn and through movements onto King Georges Road.
  • Widening the existing signalised pedestrian crossing and waiting area on Broadarrow Road to increase the safety of pedestrians, particularly during peak school periods.
  • Adjusting the alignment of the footpath and fencing on southern side of Broadarrow Road next to Beverly Hills Girls High School.
  • Tree removal, trimming and landscaping.
  • Road resurfacing and adjusting road marking.

Project information

Background

Roads and Maritime Services has developed a design for improvements to the intersection of King Georges Road, Broadarrow Road and Ponyara Road in Beverly Hills.

A high number of vehicles currently travel eastbound on Broadarrow Road, which results in congestion during the AM and PM peak periods. Motorists queuing to turn onto King Georges Road are causing delays for motorists travelling through the intersection.

Features

We will be widening Broadarrow Road to provide an additional lane to separate the left-turn, right-turn and through movements onto King Georges Road. This will allow more vehicles to travel through the intersection during each traffic light phase and help ease congestion

The proposed work will include:

  • widening Broadarrow Road to provide an additional lane to separate the left-turn, right-turn and through movements onto King Georges Road
  • widening the existing signalised pedestrian crossing and waiting area on Broadarrow Road to increase the safety of pedestrians, particularly during peak school periods.
  • adjusting the alignment of the footpath and fencing on southern side of Broadarrow Road, next to Beverly Hills Girls High School
  • tree removal, trimming and landscaping
  • road resurfacing and adjusting road marking.
