Our organisation
Our purpose is to make NSW a better place to live, work and visit by delivering a safe, reliable and sustainable transport network.
We are responsible for strategy, planning, policy, regulation, funding allocation and other critical functions for all modes of transport in NSW including road, metro, train, bus, ferry, light rail, point to point transport, on-demand services, community transport, cycling and walking.
Our aim is to create an integrated transport system that works for everyone – so regardless of who you are, where you live or how you travel, our transport network works for you.
We work closely with the state’s transport agencies and entities to deliver better connections for the people of NSW.
More than 30,000 people are employed across Transport. Of these, Transport for NSW employs 15,000 people.
How we’re structured
Our new statewide operating model has simplified the way we work across Transport. This is helping us focus on delivering our core services and adapt to the changing ways customers and communities use our transport network. See how we’ve changed the way we operate at Transport. (PDF, 72.69 KB)
