Temporary Exemptions to the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport – Part 2.1, 2.6, 2.8, 6.4 and 8.2

On 9 June 2022, the Australian Human Rights Commission granted members of the Australasian Railway Association, temporary exemptions from certain provisions of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Cth).

Transport for NSW and its operators, Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink, provided the management plan to the Australian Human Rights Commission to meet conditions for five temporary exemptions. The plan aims to address conditions relating to reporting, asset upgrades and/or implementation of procedures designed to assist people with disability receive an equivalent level of access as all other customers.
