Roads - Private development
Transport for NSW works everyday with developers whose projects may trigger a statutory referral and/or impact the State road network.
The State road network in NSW is critical to the way we live and work. It is essential for the operation of our economy and it facilitates the links in our communities. Transport is responsible for delivering safe and efficient journeys for all road users throughout NSW, as well as managing the operations and maintenance programs of State roads.
Any project that impacts the State road network or relates to traffic signals is likely to require input and often statutory approvals from Transport.
We encourage early consultation to help streamline your development process. The more information you can provide, the more certainty we can provide.
Transport for NSW supports the Minister for Planning, local councils and consent authorities in the process to consider your proposal.
A Works Authorisation Deed (WAD) is a legally binding contract between Transport for NSW and an external party, typically a developer.
