Environment and planning
The B-Line program consists of a number of project sites along the length of the route from Mona Vale to Sydney CBD.
The assessment and determination of development proposals in NSW is principally administered though the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 (EP&A Regulation).
We have a statutory responsibility under the EP&A Act to consider the impacts of its projects on the environment. To fulfil this responsibility, an assessment of the likely impacts of a proposed activity on the environment is undertaken before a decision is made on whether to undertake the activity, for all our project sites, and will include:
- Exempt development checklists
- Environmental impact assessment checklists
- Review of Environmental Factors (REF)
Due to the differing nature of project sites along the route, it is likely that a number of different assessments will be undertaken.
Managing construction noise impacts
There will be noise generated from works as part of the B-Line program. The Project has adopted the Roads and Maritime Services’ Construction Noise and Vibration Guideline (PDF, 746.53 KB) to manage noise impacts across the project.
Under this Guideline, the Project has prepared the B-Line Additional Mitigation Policy (PDF, 2.28 MB) to provide guidance on when and how to implement feasible and reasonable mitigation for construction noise impacts associated with the B-Line Program.
Planning approvals
Proposals to build commuter car parks and the road and infrastructure associated with the B-Line, have received planning approval. Review of Environmental Factors Assessments are put on public display to encourage feedback from the community. This feedback is then compiled as part of a Determination or Submissions Report which will outline the final proposal of works. The documents for each area are listed below:
