Argyle Street traffic and pedestrian improvements
Project overview
Transport for NSW is improving traffic and pedestrian safety on Argyle Street in Moss Vale. The proposed improvements will make journeys through the town safer and more efficient.
The proposed improvements have been designed in response to community feedback received in June 2021.
Key benefits
redistributing existing road space and parking to install designated right turn bays to improve traffic flow and ease congestion at:
Argyle Street and Valetta Street
Argyle Street and Kirkham Street
Argyle Street and Lackey Road
Argyle Street and Arthur Street
installing pedestrian crossings and islands to make crossing Argyle Street safer for pedestrians at:
Argyle Street between Lackey Road and Railway Street
Argyle Street near Dalys Way
installing a traffic signal and pedestrian crossing at the Waite Street intersection and removing the crossing 50 metres south bound, along Argyle Street
restricting right turns out of Arthur Street and Railway Street onto Argyle Street
restricting right turns from Argyle Street onto Railway Street
resurfacing the road between Arthur Street and the Illawarra Highway roundabout

Community feedback received in 2021 was invaluable to shaping the concept designs Argyle Street improvements and will again be an important part of the detailed design process. In June 2021, the community was invited to provide feedback on early design considerations for areas in need of improvement across the Moss Vale town centre. Feedback received from the community, key stakeholder groups and transport customers has helped progress a preferred option for the Argyle Street improvements and the station upgrade.
