Arncliffe Station Platform Canopy Extension

The program is designed to simplify and modernise the rail network. Passengers will be able to access more services on a simpler and more reliable network through the delivery of better infrastructure, new trains and extra services.

Project scope

  • extended the canopy to cover almost the entire length of platforms 3 and 4. This has increased weather protection and helped customers use the whole platform, reducing crowding at busy times
  • installed more CCTV and lighting to improve safety
  • provided more seats along the platform
  • provided more digital information boards and a PA system to keep customers informed.

Customer benefits

  • a 30 per cent increase in peak services on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
  • extra services from Cronulla, Waterfall and Hurstville
  • space for 6,000 more customers on the T4 Line during the peak hour.

Project status

Work to extend the platform canopy on platforms 3 and 4 is now complete.
