Project overview

Transport for NSW is delivering improvements across the state to create vibrant, productive, liveable and sustainable places that support community health, safety and wellbeing.

To promote future employment growth, support the local population now and into the future, and to improve connections across Greater Western Sydney, road works are underway to connect Sydney’s motorway network and support the delivery of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport. Four of these projects will provide road access to future Sydney

Metro construction sites and a services facility, and improve traffic flow and safety for construction vehicles and general traffic.

The projects for Badgerys Creek and Bringelly include:

  • Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport
  • M12 Motorway
  • Roundabout extension at Elizabeth Drive and Badgerys Creek Road
  • New link road and road upgrades at Longleys Road and Pitt Street
  • New roundabout with access road at 215 Badgerys Creek Road
  • New driveway for the Bringelly Services Facility at Derwent Road


Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport

Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport is the new metro railway line which will service Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

M12 Motorway

The M12 Motorway will provide direct access to Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek and connect to Sydney’s motorway network.

Roundabout extension at Elizabeth Drive and Badgerys Creek Road

The existing roundabout intersection was upgraded to include a fourth (4th) leg for an access road to allow work vehicles enter the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport construction site. Completed work includes:

  • a new access road to the north of the roundabout
  • new kerbing and guttering
  • utilities modifications and installation of new drainage.

Pitt Street works

Pitt Street was upgraded to cater for heavy construction vehicles. Completed work includes:

  • widening and upgrading of Pitt Street
  • signage and line markings
  • adjustment of utilities and installation of new drainage
  • road construction and pavement work.

Badgerys Creek Road new roundabout and access road

A new three (3) leg roundabout and access road has been completed at 215 Badgerys Creek Road to allow work vehicles to safely enter and exit the Aerotropolis construction site. Completed work includes:

  • a new concrete roundabout with a central concrete island
  • an east leg access road on to the areotroplis construction site
  • new street lighting, signage, and line marking
  • new kerbing, guttering and pavement widening
  • adjustment of utilities and installation of new stormwater drainage.

New driveway for the Bringelly Service Facility at Derwent Road

A driveway to access the Sydney Metro Bringelly Service Facility was completed at 40 Derwent Road.  Completed work includes:

  • a new driveway to access the services facility
  • relocation of utilities and stormwater drainage improvements
  • road construction and pavement work.
