Project information
What work did we do?
To improve the operation of buses, Transport has installed a new continuous bus lane along Broadway and George Street between Mountain Street and Quay Street for buses travelling in the citybound direction.
The bus lane is in the second lane to make it easier and safer for buses to travel towards Pitt Street as the majority of buses access Pitt Street from George Street.
The key features of the project are outlined below.
- Changed bus lane hours with the new bus lane operating from 6am to 8pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on weekends
- Retaining the existing kerbside bus lane between Bay Street and Mountain Street in its current position. The hours of this bus lane will be updated to be consistent with the new bus lane.
- Combining the two loading zones on Broadway between Mountain Street and Wattle Street to make one large loading zone. The capacity of loading zone and street parking will remain the same.
- Removing the existing kerbside bus lane between Wattle Street and Harris Street which will be made available for general traffic.
