Bus stop improvements on Woodstock Avenue, Mount Druitt

Reviewed

Project overview

Transport is making improvements to the bus stop on Woodstock Avenue at Mount Druitt as part of the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program. These improvements will enhance the reliability, journey time and efficiency of bus services as well as improve access to services for passengers.

Background

Transport for NSW is upgrading the existing bus stop (ID 2770106) on Woodstock Avenue, just before Carew Street, to improve accessibility and safety. Currently, the bus stop becomes muddy and difficult to access in wet weather.

The upgrade includes a new bus bay, allowing buses to pull into a designated area so vehicles can pass safely. Additional improvements include a concrete waiting area, footpath connection, better lighting, and landscaping for passenger safety and convenience.

Transport asked for community feedback from Monday 4 November to Sunday 17 November 2024 to understand experiences with the current bus stop and views on the proposed changes.

Community consultations

Transport asked for community feedback from Monday 4 November to Sunday 17 November 2024 to understand experiences with the current bus stop and views on the proposed changes.

We received 30 responses, with 87% (26 respondents) supporting the upgrade. The remaining 13% (4 respondents) provided feedback unrelated to the proposal, focusing on broader bus service improvements. No respondents opposed the project.

Transport appreciates all feedback and acknowledges the community’s comments. After reviewing responses, we have decided to proceed with the upgrade as planned.

View the Consultation report for more details.

Benefits

The improvements will:

  • improve passenger access to the bus stop
  • improve safety for passengers getting on and off buses using the bus stop
  • enhance traffic flow along Woodstock Avenue as buses using the bus stop will be able to pull out of the traffic lane and into the bus bay
