Bushfire resilience

Bushfire resilience work on the Pacific Highway between between Eungai and Macksville will start in early May 2023.

The work includes removing trees identified as hazards, trimming and slashing roadside vegetation, repairing and maintaining fauna, boundary and rock fall protection fencing and other general maintenance activities.

Bushfire resilience work on the Pacific Highway between Mailmans Track and Archville Station Road, Bonville was completed mid-March.

The work included removing trees identified as hazards, trimming and slashing roadside vegetation, repairing and maintaining fauna, boundary and rock fall protection fencing and other general maintenance activities.

Transport for NSW is carrying out tree removal along several highways across NSW to improve bushfire and network resilience. Where possible we are combining this work with maintenance activities to minimise disruptions to motorists.

The scope of work includes:

• inspecting drains, bridges, noise walls and fauna overpass locations 
• removing, trimming and slashing of roadside vegetation  
• removing or partial removal of trees identified as potential hazards 
• repairing and maintaining fauna, boundary, rock fall protection fencing and netting.

Maintenance activities may also be carried out, including:

• restoring pavement, heavy asphalt patching and pavement sealing 
• cleaning out existing drainage structures  
• general maintenance activities including streetlight repairs, collection of litter, removing graffiti and replacing signs.
