Changed traffic conditions on Mitchell Highway - Notifications - West Region Projects

Reviewed

Project overview

The Australian Government under the Heavy Vehicle Safety Productivity Program is funding the widening of the Mitchell Highway north of Nyngan, to increase productivity and safety outcomes particularly for heavy vehicle operators between Nyngan and Bourke.

Bogan Shire Council will carry out the work on behalf of Transport for NSW, which involves culvert replacements and shoulder widening works along a 10 kilometre stretch of the Mitchell Highway 14 kilometres north of Nyngan. We have included a map to show the location of the works.

We will be working between 7.00am and 6.00pm from Monday to Saturday, and expect to complete the work in 6 months, weather permitting. We will let you know in advance if we need to do any work outside these times.

How will the work affect you?

The work will involve the use of machinery which could generate dust and some noise. We will make every effort to minimise dust with the use of a water cart and we will minimise noise by turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use. Property access will be maintained at all times during work hours.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe.

Single lane contra-flow closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times.

Motorists should allow up to 10 minutes extra travel time during this work.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit the Live Traffic website or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
