The Escort Way and Henry Parkes Way safety upgrade - Saving Lives on Country Roads

Cabonne Council and Parkes Shire Council, on behalf of Transport for NSW, are delivering safety improvements on The Escort Way and Henry Parkes Way between Orange and Parkes.

The safety upgrades will be delivered along the 96-kilometre section of road over the next two years, with the objective to reduce occurrence and severity of run off road and head on crashes.

The 8 projects include clear zone improvements, installing and replacing safety barrier and 8 intersection upgrades.

The intersections to be upgraded are Mousehole Lane, Peabody Road, Rosamel Lane, Healeys Road, Lake Endeavour Road, Cooka Hills Road, Bindogundra Road, Hunts Crossing Road, Massurit Lane and Kamandra Lane.

The safety upgrades have been split into two stages.

Stage one

• Monument project, 32 kilometres west of Orange, delivered by Cabonne Council
• Red Hill project, two kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Cabonne Council
• Cabonne Boundary project, 14 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Cabonne Council
• Fairview project, 32 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
• Bumberry Hills project, 19 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council.

Stage one works will be completed by Dec 2022

Stage two

• Lake Endeavour Road project, 25 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
• Cooka Hills Road project, 36 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
• Massurit Lane project, 41 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council

Planning is underway for Stage 2 works.

• Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Lake Endeavor

• Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing, safety barrier installation and intersection upgrade at Lake Endeavour Road

Cooka Hills Road

• Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing, safety barrier installation and intersection upgrades at Cooka Hills Road and Bindogundra Road

Massurit Lane

• Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing. safety barrier installation and intersection upgrades at Kamandra Lane, Hunts Crossing Road and Massurit Lane
