Former Prince Alfred Substation Adaptive Reuse project
Project overview
The NSW Government is supporting job creation and economic growth in Central Precinct by making new spaces available for tech start-ups.
As part of the Central Precinct Renewal Program, the unused heritage asset, the Prince Alfred Substation and AC Switch House, will be refurbished as a potential new space for tech and creative industries or start-ups.
The benefits of the refurbishment include:
- Maintain and conserve heritage significance of the state heritage listed substation buildings through sensitive and viable reuse
- New fixtures and finishes suitable for a modern workplace
- 1,800 square metres of commercial space with modern fixtures and finishes
- Accessibility improvements including new lifts, stairs
- A new pedestrian entrance from Prince Alfred Park, providing an increased sense of activation to the park
