Project information

Background

The Grand Parade is a key road corridor that moves people and goods across the Sydney Metropolitan area. Currently this route carries up to 71,000 vehicles per day and can be heavily congested.

Transport proposes to improve safety, access and traffic flow along The Grand Parade and Bay St and create new people friendly place amenities across the retail, entertainment and business hub of Brighton-Le-Sands.

Benefits

  • Increased safety for the local community, public transport customers and the motorists.
  • Improved access and connectivity to the Airport and ports and connects Sydney CBD to southern Sydney.
  • More efficient traffic flow.
  • New local place amenities.
  • Improved safety by introducing traffic calming and anti-hooning measures on Bay Street.

Next steps

Transport will continue to work closely with local councils and key stakeholders.

At this stage we are looking at other options to alleviate traffic congestion while maintaining access to businesses and local amenities.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during our community consultation period in late 2022.
