Great Western Highway closed - Notifications - West Region Projects

Reviewed

Project overview

The NSW Government is funding essential work on the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass.

Transport for NSW will carry out the work, which includes essential geotechnical work and the installation of a CCTV camera, for the safety for all road users. We have included a map to show the location of the work.

We will be working between 8pm and 5am from Tuesday 30 August and expect it to take four nights to complete, weather permitting. We will let you know in advance if we need to do any work outside these times.

How will the work affect you?

For the safety of motorists and our workers, work will be taking place at night. The work will involve the use of machinery which generates some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise completing noisier activities earlier in the night and turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe.

For the safety of motorists and workers the Great Western Highway will be closed westbound at Victoria Pass. A detour via Darling Causeway and Chifley Road will be in place for all westbound traffic during this time. Access will be maintained for local traffic and residents.

Motorists are advised to allow an additional 15 minutes travel time for the detour.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic control and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
