Great Western Hwy and Reservoir Rd, Blacktown

Roads and Maritime is continuing upgrade work to improve traffic flow and safety at the Great Western Highway and Reservoir Road intersection, Blacktown. For the updated work schedule and other project information, view the August 2019 project update (PDF, 234Kb).

The NSW Government is delivering this project as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney’s busiest corridors.

This work will improve traffic flow through this intersection and improve the journeys of road users travelling along the Great Western Highway and Reservoir Road. View or download the project design (PDF, 136Kb).

The upgrade will include widening Reservoir Road, extending the left turn bay on Reservoir Road, building a second dedicated right turn lane onto the Great Western Highway and adding a second dedicated right turn lane from the Highway onto Reservoir Road northbound.

The key benefits to the community include:

• •reducing congestion at the intersection
• lowering travel times particularly in peak hours
• improving traffic flow
• increasing safety for road users
