Heavy Patching along the Newell Highway - Notifications - West Region Projects

Reviewed

Project overview

The NSW Government has prioritised essential maintenance work across the West Region to perform essential flood recovery and maintenance work.

Transport for NSW with the support of contractors, is carrying out the work, which includes heavy patching work along the Newell Highway from Gilgandra to the Queensland Border.

Work will commence on the Bellata to Boggabilla section from 4 July 2022 and will take approximately four months  to complete weather permitting.

Downer EDI Works will carry out the work on the section between Bellata and Moree on behalf of Transport for NSW. Work. Work will commence through Bellata for approvimately one week, then continue north to Moree.

They will be working between 7am and 5.30pm on weekdays, and between 7am and 5.30pm on Saturdays. We will let you know in advance if they need to do any work outside these times.

How will the work affect you?

The work will involve the use of machinery which generates some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise by arranging the work in stages at different locations, completing noisier activities earlier in the night and turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.

We understand that there are multiple projects being carried out concurrently along this section of the Newell Highway including Inland Rail and our upcoming heavy duty pavement upgrades between Narrabri and Moree, which has a compounding impact on residents and motorists. We will make every effort to work with external agencies to minimise these impacts and ensure the work zone is safe.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe.

Single lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours and may affect travel times.

Motorists should allow up to ten minutes extra travel time during this work.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
