A single night closure of the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) and Picton Road will occur on Sunday 24 August between 8pm to 4am.

The Mount Ousley Road shared path bridge has received the go ahead and will now move into the detailed design stage.

The shared path and bridge will now be delivered as part of the Mount Ousley interchange project.

During the community consultation period in April and early May 2025, Transport received 233 pieces of feedback. There was strong support for the improved access to key destinations that the bridge will provide for those walking and cycling.

Rescheduled road closures of the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) and Picton Road will occur on Sunday 22 June, Monday 23 June and Wednesday 25 June between 8pm and 4am.

Due to recent wet weather, there will be changes to the upcoming planned multiple night closures of the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) from Bulli Pass to Memorial Drive and Picton Road between M1 Princes Motorway and Almond Street at Wilton.

Full road closures planned for Sunday 25 May and Wednesday 28 May have been postponed.

A full road closure to carry out emergency pavement repair and road barrier modification work will occur on Monday 26 May between 8pm and 4am. 

Closures of the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) and Picton Road are planned to occur in May and June 2025, starting from Sunday 25 May between 8pm and 4am.

As part of the project, extensive vegetation removal, including mulching, will commence on the southern side of the M1 Princes Motorway near the University of Wollongong in late-March and is expected to continue into May, weather permitting.

The closure of the M1 Princes Motorway (Mount Ousley Road) from Bulli Pass to Memorial Drive and Picton Road between M1 Princes Motorway and Almond Street at Wilton on Wednesday 13 November was disrupted by weather and critical activities were unable to be completed.

To carry out these activities, a full night closure will occur on Sunday 8 December, between 8pm to 4am, weather permitting.

Work on site will continue in November and December. Night work will be carried out as required between 7pm and 6am, Mondays to Thursdays, from Monday 18 November to Thursday 19 December 2024.

The project site will be closed over the upcoming holiday period from Friday 20 December 2024 until Monday 6 January 2025.

The pedestrian bridge over the M1 Princes Motorway at Northfields Avenue is being extended to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists. From Monday 18 November to Thursday 19 December the bridge will be closed and a temporary detour for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place.

Detailed design is progressing and early work will start in the coming weeks. 

Major work is planned to start in late 2024 with the project expected to take about four years to complete, weather permitting.

The contract to design and build the $390 million Mount Ousley interchange, has been awarded to Fulton Hogan.

Early work will start in the coming months, including survey and geotechnical investigations, utility relocation and vegetation clearing. 

In the coming weeks the community will be updated on the next stages of the project.
