Construction is expected to start early 2026 and be completed by 2029.

Project background
The NSW Government is planning to widen and upgrade Mulgoa Road between Glenmore Parkway to Jeanette Street to support current and future traffic demands and expected growth in the area.
The upgraded Mulgoa Road/Castlereagh corridor will improve both road safety and travel times and reduce congestion by adding a lane in either direction.
Work is continuing to develop the corridor, and future upgrades are being delivered in stages, subject to available funding and priorities.
The stages of the corridor upgrade being progressed include:
- Museum Drive to Union Road (Stage 0): Delivered and providing benefits to the community since opening in June 2021
- Jeanette Street to Blaikie Road (Stage 1): Major construction started in early 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2026
- Glenmore Parkway to Jeanette Street (Stage 2): In detailed design.
