Parramatta Road Vision
Project overview
Transport for NSW (Transport) has a vision to revitalise Parramatta Road as a multimodal transport corridor, that better connects thriving, vibrant, liveable centres to places of work and leisure.

An integrated approach for the Parramatta Road corridor is currently underway across NSW Government to improve livability and provide increased housing for future population growth and meaningful employment opportunities. The vision is to deliver a fully integrated transport network, to enhance public spaces along and adjacent to the corridor for people of all walks of life to connect, trade and visit.
Parramatta Road is a unique and significant transport artery, linking Sydney CBD to Parramatta. Revitalisation of the corridor will be supported by improving the transport function and providing greater choice for people to use more sustainable travel modes.

Future vision
Looking forward
To achieve this vision, we will collaborate across government to deliver short to long-term benefits. With a key focus on a unified approach, the vision will become a reality through collaboration across government, with local councils, the community, industry and in partnership with Country.
Proposed key features
- Rapid bus services to enhance connectivity to major transport hubs
- Better integration between buses, freight, bikes and private vehicles
- Collaboration across government to develop additional greening across the corridor and improvements to cycling and pedestrian facilities
- Working in partnership with Country to generate diversity of thinking, better understanding of place and surrounding natural systems.
Short-term opportunities
In the short-term Transport will prioritise public transport and strengthen dedicated bus priority on Parramatta Road, by introducing bus lanes and T3 transit lanes within the existing road space.
Community engagement
We recognise every community has different needs and aspirations, so we will be partnering with local government, representatives of Country, industry and community to ensure the revitalisation aligns with local needs and aspirations.
