Pier 2-3 Walsh Bay - Visiting Vessel Facility

Reviewed

Project overview

Pier 2/3 is located at Millers Point and was constructed between 1912 and 1922, before being refurbished in the early 2000s. The pier has a long history of vessel berthing, which has recently been limited as a result of poor lateral stability.

Transport for NSW is assessing the feasibility of providing a berthing facility at Pier 2/3 Walsh Bay. This could potentially include provision for large visiting private vessels, with some additional short term berths for smaller vessels. At this time no decision has been taken to proceed with this facility.

Any proposal for such a facility will require careful consideration in light of the strategic importance of the Walsh Bay Precinct as a hub for the arts and as a tourist destination, and in light of the development by Arts NSW of a Master Plan for the Pier 2/3 precinct.
