Princes Highway freight safety and access improvements
Project overview
The Princes Highway plays a critical role in enabling a thriving NSW South Coast. It unlocks economic, employment and social opportunities for the region and connects regional centres and essential services between Sydney and the NSW South Coast.

As part of the Princes Highway upgrade program, Transport is considering safety and access improvements to enable safer, more resilient, more reliable, more efficient, and better-connected journeys on the network for the South Coast.
Transport is working with freight customers to ensure their needs and concerns are taken into consideration as the upgrade program progresses.
Our planning includes improvements along the corridor to enable heavier vehicles, provide better access and increased rest stops for freight operators.

Project background
The Princes Highway is one of Australia’s significant inter-state corridors, connecting Adelaide to Sydney, via Melbourne and Australia’s southeast coast. The highway plays a critical role in enabling a thriving NSW South Coast. It unlocks economic, employment and social opportunities for the region, and connects regional centres and essential services.
Recognising that freight is a key user of the Princes Highway network, Transport is carrying out consultation with the freight industry to inform our strategy to improve safety and access along the corridor.
