Jan 2020 - New clearways
Transport for NSW is installing new clearways and new timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions on Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road between King Georges Road, Beverly Hills and the M5 East Motorway, Arncliffe.
The new clearways and timed ‘No Stopping’ changes will be operational from Monday 17 February 2020.
These changes would improve:
- the efficiency of the road corridor by making the kerbside lane available;
- journey times for over 30,000 motorists who travel on Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road each day.
In July and August 2019, Transport for NSW engaged with the community and sought feedback on the proposed alternative business customer parking options for new and extended clearways on Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road. We have summarised the feedback and responses in the January 2020 Engagement Report (PDF, 4.42Mb), which we encourage you to view.
Project information
Clearway hours
Stoney Creek Road from Beverly Hills to Kingsgrove
The new clearway hours will operate in both directions from:
- 6am to 7pm on weekdays
- 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays
Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road from Kingsgrove to Arncliffe (the M5 East Motorway)
The new AM and PM peak hour clearways will operate in both directions from:
- 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm on weekdays.
Parking will still be allowed outside the new and extended clearways.
New timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions
We are also introducing new timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions at certain locations as shown on the maps below.
The new timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions will operate outside the clearway hours from:
- 10am to 3pm weekdays
- 9am to 6pm weekends and public holidays.
These ‘No Stopping’ restrictions will allow traffic to travel in the kerbside lane and safely pass vehicles waiting to turn right into side streets, and to improve the traffic throughput at key intersections.
These timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions are in addition to the mandatory ‘No Stopping’ restrictions that apply at these intersections. It will allow vehicles to travel in the kerbside lane and safely pass vehicles waiting to turn right into side streets and at intersections.
Alternative business customer parking options
Transport for NSW will continue to work with Georges River Council to implement the revised parking changes in Donald Street at Hurstville, by converting five unrestricted parking spaces into 1P parking spaces to cater for short term business customer parking.
What happens next
The new clearway and timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions will be installed between Monday 10 February and Sunday 16 February 2020, weather permitting. Our working hours will be between 8pm and 5am.
The new clearways and new timed ‘No Stopping’ restrictions will be operational from 6am Monday 17 February 2020.
