Victoria Bridge upgrade
Project overview
Transport for NSW has completed upgrade works on the historic Victoria Bridge over Stonequary Creek, Picton. This heritage listed bridge was designed by Percy Allan and opened on 7 October 1897. It features the tallest trestles in New South Wales and is one of the oldest surviving bridges of its type.

Jun 2022 - Maintenance work on Victoria Bridge, Picton
Transport for NSW will carry out repair works on the historic Victoria Bridge over Stonequarry Creek, Picton.
Due to long walls being mined in the area, some movement of the ground has been detected placing pressure on the bridge. Victoria Bridge will be temporarily closed to carry out work and remove this pressure.

Dec 2021 - Work to restore Victoria Bridge now complete
Work to restore Victoria Bridge over Stonequarry Creek in Picton is now complete and the bridge has been reopened to vehicle traffic.
Transport for NSW thank the local community for their patience in restoring this historic bridge.
Opened in 1897 and one of the oldest and tallest trestle bridges of its type in NSW, restoration work involve replacing the timber support structure on the western side with concrete and replacing the existing timber supports with new lumber. Traditional skills were employed so that replacement timbers and other materials were upgraded in line with previous workmanship.

Background
The upgrade will improve longevity and reduce future maintenance costs for this historically significant bridge.
The bridge was upgraded in two stages:
- stage 1 involved bracing the bridge and replacing the timber top chords that support the bridge.
- stage 2 involves replacing the timber support truces that hold up the bridge.
