Williamtown to Bobs Farm - Section 1 - Nelson Bay Road

The NSW Government is investing $275 million to improve road safety and reduce congestion on the Nelson Bay Road corridor. Section 1, the duplication of one kilometre of Nelson Bay Road between Salt Ash and Bobs Farm, has now been completed.

Background
The NSW Government is investing $275 million to improve safety and travel times on Nelson Bay Road. The duplication of Nelson Bay Road is being delivered in stages. Early work on the project to upgrade the intersection of Nelson Bay Road and Medowie Road, the intersection of Nelson Bay Road and Lemon Tree Passage Road were completed in 2020.
Transport for NSW invested $26 million in the duplication of a one-kilometre section of Nelson Bay Road from Salt Ash to Bobs Farm. This has now been completed.
This section runs 900 metres east of Marsh Road at Salt Ash to 1.9 kilometres east of Marsh Road at Bobs Farm and delivers a safer and more efficient road for the 25,000 motorists who use it each day.
Transport for NSW engaged Daracon to deliver this work.
Features
This one-kilometre dual carriageway upgrade includes:
- 3.5-metre travel lanes
- 2.5-metre shoulders
- a concrete median separation barrier
- two connected retaining walls
- utility relocations
- fauna exclusion fencing to ensure wildlife is protected
Benefits
The $26 million investment in the duplication of this one-kilometre section of Nelson Bay Road will improve safety, travel times and traffic flow for the 25,000 motorists who use this vital connection each day.
