Concrete Grey Card Training

From 01 May 2024, TfNSW Concrete Placement Competency Training cards (also known as ‘Concrete Grey Cards’ [CGC]) will be issued as a virtual card.

Work Crew Requirement

Currently, concrete placement competency is required in the following TfNSW Specifications:

  1. TS 01733 (formerly B80) Concrete Work for Bridges
  2. TS 03270 (formerly R82) Lean Mix Concrete Subbase
  3. TS 03271 (formerly R83) Concrete Pavement Base

A valid Concrete Grey Card is required to carry out concrete placement on TfNSW projects.

Achieving Competency

The concrete placement competency is achieved by completing a Concrete Grey Card Training from one of the TfNSW Training Partners.

The Concrete Grey Card Training is delivered in two streams, namely:

  1. Concrete Grey Card for Bridgeworks (CGC-BW)
  2. Concrete Grey Card for Rigid Pavements (CGC-RP)

People carrying out concrete placement will need to have the required Concrete Grey Card training for the streams that are applicable to their role.

Once the concrete placement competency training and assessment is successfully completed, a virtual card is issued for that Concrete Gray Card training stream.

Eligibility

A worker must be aged at least 14 years to participate in the training. The training participant has to provide the TfNSW Registered Presenter with evidence of identity.

Training Fee

The training fee is set independently by the TfNSW Training Partner.

Card Validity

The digital Concrete Grey Card is valid for five years from date of issue. The card expiration date is reflected in the digital card.

Renewal of Concrete Grey Card

Expired Concrete Grey Cards can be renewed after completing the required training corresponding to the relevant CGC Training stream.

Expiration of Current Physical Card

From 01 May 2024, all existing physical Concrete Grey Cards will expire in five years.

All expired Concrete Grey Cards must be renewed to remain valid.
