Project overview

The NSW Government is funding important safety upgrades on the Mitchell Highway at multiple locations between Bathurst and Orange. Night work will start from 7pm, Sunday 19 September with a detour in place.

Detour route fir work on Mitchell Highway

Transport for NSW will be carrying out a number of safety projects along the Mitchell Highway. During night work hours, the detour route above will be in place.

Night works will include:

  • Cashens Lane & Guyong - repairing the road with asphalt
  • East Guyong - relocation of 1.7km of steel barriers and line-marking

Work taking place during the day will include:

  • Vittoria East - removal of trees to allow for the highway to be widened

How will the work affect you?

Some of our work needs to be carried out at night to minimise traffic disruption and reduce safety risks to the workers and motorists. The work will involve the use of machinery which generates some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise by turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.

Residents inside the traffic control area will still be able to access their property.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. During night work hours, all traffic will be diverted on the Mid-Western Highway via Blayney which will add an additional 15 minutes to travel times.

During day work at Vittoria East, traffic control will be in place with reduced speeds and intermittent stopping.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
