Project overview

Changed traffic conditions on Mitchell Highway and Great Western Highway between Lithgow and Orange.

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions over the next three weeks on the Mitchell Highway and Great Western Highway for essential road maintenance at multiple locations between Lithgow and Orange.

Following recent heavy rain across the Central West, Transport for NSW is engaging multiple road crews to expedite road repairs. This may add up to 15 minutes of additional travel time between Lithgow and Bathurst, and up to 25 minutes between Bathurst and Orange.

The work has been prioritised and includes repairing the road with asphalt patching and resurfacing to provide a smoother and safer road surface for all road users.

Work will be carried out during both the day and night and is expected to be complete by Friday 27 August, weather permitting.

Traffic control will be in place during the work with intermittent stopping and reduced speed limits in some areas to 40 km/h.

Road users should plan their trip, drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control, and allow additional travel time.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
