Great Western Highway closed at Mount Victoria - Notifications - West Region Projects

Reviewed

Project overview

The NSW Government is funding essential maintenance work on the Great Western Highway at near Mount Victoria.

Transport for NSW will carry out the work, which includes clearing debris and installing safety barriers following the landslip and severe weather event in early July, for the safety for all road users. We have included a map to show the location of the work.

We will be working between 8pm and 5am on Thursday 14 July and expect it to take one night to complete, weather permitting. We will let you know in advance if we need to do any work outside these times.

How will the work affect you?

For the safety of motorists and our workers, work will be taking place at night. The work will involve the use of machinery which generates some noise. We will make every effort to minimise noise completing noisier activities earlier in the night and turning off machinery and vehicles when not in use.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe.

For the safety of motorists and workers the Great Western Highway will be closed in both directions between Mount Victoria and Lithgow. A detour via Chifley Road and Darling Causeway will be in place for all through traffic during this time. Access will be maintained for local traffic and residents.

Motorists are advised to allow an additional 15 minutes travel time for the detour.

Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic control and signs. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
