Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student completing years 11 or 12? Or do you know someone who is?

The Transport for NSW HSC Scholarship Program gives motivated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students, completing their Higher School Certificate (HSC), access to financial assistance and practical work experience to ready them for a career in the Transport cluster.

The program provides the students with up to two years’ of support in completing their HSC with a $2,500 per year scholarship.

Students also complete practical work experience within the Transport cluster that aligns to their career aspirations. During this time, mentoring and career advice is available for students to develop their skills and apply for future employment opportunities in TfNSW.

We want to attract bright, young Aboriginal students to our organisation and assist them find future employment opportunities within the cluster.

Briannah Pearson completed the HSC Scholarship Program in 2016 and enrolled into university after HSC. She then applied and joined the Transport Scholar Program. She completed her work experience with Roads and Maritime Services in the Regional Maintenance Delivery team and says that her time at Transport has helped her realise the difference she can make in the lives of people across NSW.

“The opportunities within Transport are endless.

“Everyone has a common goal of providing the best service for the customer,” said Briannah.

If this interests you, we want to hear from students who are actively involved in their local Aboriginal community, interested in being a good role model for young Aboriginal people and considering studying at university.
