Project information

The Australian and NSW governments have provided $509 million to upgrade Bringelly Road between Camden Valley Way, Leppington and The Northern Road, Bringelly.

The Bringelly Road upgrade will deliver new and upgraded roads to support integrated transport in the region and capitalise on the economic benefits from developing the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek. It will also improve safety, increase road capacity and reduce congestion and travel times in the future.

This 10 kilometre project will include the upgrade of Bringelly Road from two lanes to a six lane divided road between the eastern side of Upper Canal bridge and the western side of the Eastwood Road intersection, through the future Leppington Town Centre. The rest of Bringelly Road will also be upgraded from two lanes to a four lane divided road with a central median, which would allow for widening to six lanes, when required.

The Bringelly Road upgrade will be delivered in two stages:

  • Stage 1: 5.7 kilometres between Camden Valley Way and King Street
  • Stage 2: 4.3 kilometres between King Street and The Northern Road.

The key benefits to the community include:

  • improved access to the Western Sydney Airport site at Badgerys Creek, Leppington Railway Station, the new Leppington Town Centre and the M5 and M7 motorways
  • increased road capacity
  • improved safety for motorists
  • better bus priority and facilities
  • more reliable travel times
  • improved access and safety for pedestrians and cyclists through an off-road shared path

Key features

The key features of Stage 1 include:

  • four lanes in each direction between Camden Valley Way and King Street. East of the Upper Canal bridge to Eastwood Road will be a six lane divided road
  • 80 kilometres per hour speed limit and two metre wide shoulders
  • three metre wide off-road shared pedestrian and cyclist path
  • bus priority at traffic lights and indented bus bays
  • extending the current noise wall on Cowpasture Road, 240 metres along Camden Valley Way.
