Chullora Heritage Hub
Project overview
The NSW Government is partnering with Transport Heritage NSW to deliver a new storage facility for heritage assets at Chullora.
Transport for NSW is upgrading the Tank Annex building at the Chullora Railway Workshops as the first stage of developing the new Chullora Heritage Hub. The Hub will provide Transport Heritage NSW with a new facility to better protect and preserve NSW’s most significant heritage trains and carriages.
The upgraded Tank Annex building will provide secure undercover storage and a centralised location for most of Transport Heritage NSW’s collection of rolling stock.
Work will include making the building weatherproof, creating a humidity control environment to protect important heritage assets, and security and fire safety improvements. The upgrade is expected to be completed in early 2023.
Although relocation of these assets means the moveable heritage collection will no longer have a presence at Eveleigh and Broadmeadow sites, the NSW Government is committed to preservation of important structures at these locations.
