Coniston Station Infrastructure Upgrade

Reviewed

Project overview

The program is designed to simplify and modernise the rail network. Passengers will be able to access more services on a simpler and more reliable network through the delivery of better infrastructure, new trains and extra services.

Project scope

  • installing new CCTV cameras to improve safety
  • realigning and installing new signalling equipment for the new trains
  • installing overhead wiring structures and buried cable routes from trackside infrastructure to Coniston substation
  • minor work on the platforms, including updated signs, new car markers for the trains and more fencing.

Customer benefits

  • more services on the South Coast Line. This means a service every 15 minutes in the peak and every 30 minutes in the off peak between Wollongong and the Sydney CBD.

Project status

The majority of our work on this project was completed by May 2022, remaining work includes overhead wiring upgrades and is scheduled for completion in June 2024.
