Project information

Background

After four years of construction, Macksville Bridge was officially opened to traffic in 1931. It was built to replace the old ferry/punt service. The opening of the bridge was seen as an historic day for the community. The bridge continues to play an important role connecting the town centre to residents and business on the northern side of the Nambucca River.

Macksville Bridge Rehabilitation

The NSW Government is funding essential repair work to provide a safer and longer lasting bridge. This work consists of strengthening the concrete piers, fixing the corroded steel elements and repainting the bridge.
